Do You Offer Day Care for Cats?

Do You Offer Day Care for Cats?

Do You Offer Day Care for Cats?

Not in the traditional sense.

Cats in the City does not offer conventional cat day care programs because all boarding reservations are subject to our standard boarding policies, including a minimum boarding fee equal to three days at the reserved room rate.

Unlike dogs, most cats do not benefit from group socialization or daily day care environments. Our care model is designed around individualized housing, routine, enrichment, and low-stress experiences rather than drop-in social activities.

What If My Cat Is Coming for Grooming?

We are happy to accommodate grooming guests for the day.

Many grooming clients choose to have their cat stay with us until later in the afternoon, allowing them to pick up their cat at the end of the day rather than immediately following their appointment.

This can be especially helpful for:

  • Busy work schedules
  • Transportation coordination
  • Multiple appointments in the same day
  • Cats who benefit from a quiet recovery period after grooming

Why We Don’t Offer Traditional Day Care

Cats generally form strong attachments to territory, routine, and predictability.

Unlike many dog day care programs, repeatedly moving cats in and out of a facility for short social visits is often not aligned with how cats naturally experience comfort and security.

Our focus is on providing:

  • Individualized care
  • Low-stress handling
  • Predictable routines
  • Comfortable accommodations
  • Species-appropriate enrichment

For cats who need temporary care during the day, boarding or grooming-day accommodations are often more appropriate than a traditional day care model.

If you are looking for a specific type of short-term care, feel free to contact our team. We are happy to discuss your cat’s needs and help determine the best option.
